This morning’s yoga practice was sensational.  And I mean that in the most literal sense of the word – it was all about sensation.

Try this for your Sunday practice:

Let your body flow.  Begin with the breath, feel the movement in and out, become aware of the sensations in your body.  Feel the air on your skin, the sounds around you.   Notice what is happening in your body.  (Don’t judge… just notice… ahh, interesting!)

Now stay… stay with that sensation.  Begin to move – not from the mind, but from the body.  Let your body guide you.  Maybe you move through yoga poses, maybe you flow in dance, maybe you explore small, subtle movements.  Doesnt matter.  Just move mindfully, with awareness of every sensation.

Be in-formed, literally.  Be the sensation in the form of your body, the shape of the pose.   Cultivate curiosity ~ what is this form?  this shape? this sensation?

When the mind wanders, guide it gently back to sensation.  Maybe words come to describe it, or maybe you let the sensation be there without naming it.  Just flow~~~

When you feel complete, take that in-form-ation with you in to your day, and see how your day is changed, and how you are changed, or not.

This was my practice this morning, and it led me into a marvelous meditation.  No words, just sensation, and breath, and being….

~ With a body made joyous through movement, the mind is able to relax. With mind/body balance, we can take the power of feeling good and generate compassion. ~  The Sakyong, Jamgon Mipham Rinpoche
